Our History

FHGJN started in 2004 with the aim to enhance the commitment of National Christian Councils in their advocacy work on Health and Gender. While in the beginning working a lot on HIV and Aids, the importance of partnering with people and organisations expressing the wisdoms and lived realities of the injustices addressed was emphasised.

The principle “Nothing about us without us” was therefore adopted. Today we consistently work with people and organisations within our communities that represent the experience of gender based violence, violence against marginalized communities such as LGBTI people etc.
