Who We Are

FOCCISA (Fellowship of Christian Councils in Southern Africa) Health and Gender Justice Network (FHGJN) is a faith-based organization in Southern Africa coordinating 11 Councils of Churches in South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana, Swaziland, Angola and Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. Each Council of Churches has a membership of an average of 16 churches in smaller countries and 22 member churches in bigger countries.

FOCCISA Health and Gender Justice Network (FHGJN) is part of the Fellowship of Christian Councils in Southern Africa (FOCCISA). It is a network of people within the national Chrisitan Council that work on issues related to health and gender justice.

The goal of our work is to ensure the equality and dignity of every human being irrespective of gender, skin colour, social status, health, ethnic background, religious believes, age, sexual orientation, social class or abilities.

FHGJN provides a forum to share ideas and best practices, develop resources, build capacities, support, coordinate and ensure implementation of the program in all the member countries.

Time and health are two precious assets that we don't recognize and appreciate until they have been depleted.

In each of the countries the Christian Councils have about 10-25 denominations and Christian organizations as members. Through training and awareness raising of church leaders and lay people in all these member bodies, the program reaches every corner of the countries with people who work for change and social justice in our communities.

Donate Your TIME AND SKILLS

Our work is mainly carried out by our wonderful network of volunteers who contribute in all sorts of different ways. But we’re always in need of more help and the more volunteers we have, the more hungry children we can reach.
